12 weeks

After talking with my super smart IT brained brother-in-law, it was obvious it was the size of my pictures that was a problem.  DUH!  Of course it's something simple and not overly complicated like I originally thought.  Regardless....HOT DAMN!  Thanks Matt!

Problem fixed!  Needed a reason to show off those baby blues!
As for Baby P...it's week 13 which means we're 1/3 of the way there...WHAT??!?!??!  I was wrong when I previously said our next appointment was the 24th, it's actually next Tuesday, July 31st so still have a few more days before we hear the heartbeat.  Friends of ours just found out they're having boy #2 (due in December) and it's making me super anxious for our next appt just to get an update on how things are cooking in there.  20 weeks seems really far away right now, but I'm sure it'll be here before I know it.

I'm currently reading "Your Pregnancy Week by Week" by Glade B Curtis, M.D., M.P.H. and Judith Schuler, M.S.  It was a gift from my bff Lindsey and I'm loving it!  It's starting to creep me out a little with how on target it is though.  For example...I read week 9 which warned about headaches and 2 days later I started experiencing headaches that could last an entire day.  Granted that could have been from the 100+ degree weather we've been having, but still.  Then the day before I read week 12, I learned a friend's little girls had come down with Fifths Disease and week 12 just happened to talk about Fifths Disease...random.  By far the strangest coincidence though is the one that happened yesterday.  A couple I met when living in Belleville, posted their blog on fb in honor of their daughter's first birthday to tell the story of her Omphalocele....I bet you can't guess what one of the topics was in week 13...yep babies born with an Omphalocele.  Get out of my head Glade & Judith!!!!

I received a VERY surprised visit from my aforementioned bff Lindsey & her son Jack this past week.  We didn't get to spend a ton of time together, but I'll take any time I can get with those 2 when they visit IL.  I think I'm still smiling from the huge hug I got from Jack when I walked into Lindsey's grandma's house.  It was like he remembered me and it.was.awesome.  Thanks for making some time for me Linds...even though you drank my favorite margaritas in front of me ;)

13 weeks

IMO I'm really starting to show and I'm pretty sure Kiel agrees with me.  No one at work has made any comments, but I've been noticing some wandering eyes directed at my protruding belly from friends and family....hello hair ties around the buttons on my pants and belly bands!

your baby's the size of a peach!
She's about 2.9 inches long and weighs about .81 ounces,
and -- proportion-wise -- her head's now about
1/3 the size of her body (remember? It used to be bigger!).

Gonna have to wrap it up, my Buster Bar Blizzard just arrived. I have priorities.

11 weeks

At 11 weeks I'm feeling exceptionally good.  I still get tired very quickly, but other then that & having to eat every 2 hours my symptoms of pregnancy are minimal.  I have to admit, it makes me a little nervous.  I'm not complaining about feeling good, it was just easier to feel like everything was going well when I felt like crap all the time...strange.  Really looking forward to our appt on the 24th for some reassurance.

This week, we received Baby P's first outfits!  Since we are going to find out the sex, I haven't bought anything, but Kiel's parents went to New York last weekend and brought back some souvenirs :)

Speaking of shopping, Kiel's sister & I went & looked at cribs and such last weekend.  Holy crap there are so many options!  Not just for cribs I mean...strollers and carseats and swings OH MY!  All I could think about the whole time we were there was...Where am I going to put all of this stuff?  Our small rental was not intended for a family of 3, but I'm already busy on pinterest looking for ways to make it work!

11 weeks!
I thought I had my problem with pics fixed, but looks like I still have some research to do.  That green line at the bottom should not be there.  Any suggestions (assuming anyone else is reading this lol) would be greatly appreciated!

Better luck next time.

Your baby's the size of a lime!
Your fetus is about 1.6 inches long,
and she's got about a 1:1 head to body ratio.
She now weighs in at about .25 ounces.
  • You can't see it, but she's moving fluidly and gracefully in there.
  • Her skin is see-through, but she's on her way to looking more like a baby.
  • Her fingers and toes aren't webbed anymore.
  • Tooth buds, hair follicles and nail beds are forming

10 weeks & counting

Here we are at 10 weeks pregnant!  I have said a million times I still feel like this isn't real.  When I tell people the big news I always laugh because I feel like I'm lying...weird I know.  When we had our first nurses visit I honestly felt like I was talking to her about a hypothetical situation.  I guess I should enjoy this beginning part when aside from the nausea and sore boobs I still pretty much feel like myself.  While I seem to think my belly has grown 3 pant sizes I've really only gained 2 lbs and I think Kiel is the only other person who's really noticed.  Here's the first picture I took...I believe it was at 6 weeks...and one I took today at 10 weeks.  Not sure why the color is all weird...have some work to do with my pics I guess.  Upgrading to a Nikon 5100 this weekend so they should get better after that!

Since I last updated my sister's twins turned 3 :)  I'm a little jealous our little rugrat will never have a summer birthday party.  It's so nice to be able to have all the kids outside playing and not stuck inside.  And while I couldn't imagine having twins, it's even harder to imagine life without these 2!

We also went to a wedding of one of my very good friends that I met when I worked at Chevy's during college.  We made it down Friday night for the rehearsal dinner & had to let everyone in on our secret since I wasn't partaking in the "festivities" like I usually would.  Saturday was the wedding & I was lucky enough to be asked to help hand out the programs...it was great to get there early and see Kelly & the girls before the ceremony.  Kelly was such a beautiful bride!  Her & Travis are so lucky to have found each other...they are absolutely perfect together!  I never thought I would say this but Kiel & I actually left the reception shortly after dinner & drove the 3 hours home that night.  While it was nice to wake up in our own bed Sunday morning it was a little sad to realize just how much life has already changed.  Weddings are no longer about drinking & partying all night long.  I was lucky to stay awake as late as I did!  (no pics due to no camera)

We spent the 4th of July relaxing at my sister's with her family & Kiel's sister Shilo, her husband Bryan and their twin girls Jamison & Hayden.  Henry, J, & Hayden are only 1 week apart in age so they get along really well.  It takes Bevin & Aden awhile to warm up to the girls, but once the sprinkler & slip n slide come out they're all bff.

Still feeling pretty good compared to a lot of pregnant people I know so trying not to complain about this heat too much.  Mornings are the best for me.  Seems like once I get going I feel great...until about 3pm.  Then I feel like I could lay on the floor in our office and sleep for hours.  Hopefully the heat will subside a little this weekend & it will give me a little break from the headaches and fatigue.  Kiel is suffering from sympathy hunger....he just dominated an entire frozen pizza by himself.  I would judge him, but it makes me feel less guilty for everything I've consumed today.

your baby's the size of a prune!
Now, she's about 1.2 inches long and weighs about .14 ounces. Her body length will almost double in the next three weeks.

  • Baby has working arm joints, and her cartilage and bones are forming.
  • Her vital organs are fully developed and they're starting to function.
  • Her fingernails and hair are starting to appear, too.
  • Plus, she's swallowing and kicking in there. (Can you believe it?!)
We don't have another appointment until the end of the month so no updates there.  Anxious to get to week 20 so I can start doing some planning for our little boy or girl!
