20 Weeks

Couple things I forgot to mention last week...

This kid is getting teeth :-/  I knew all the slobbering and putting everything in his mouth were signs, but two white spots appeared on his bottom gums and he's had a couple low grade fevers indicating we're in for it.  Apparently, Kiel & I both cut multiple teeth at a time so I'm waiting for him to wake up one morning with a full set.  Once those suckers pop through, you can bet we'll be on the path to formula!

I also bumped him up to 6 oz bottles last week and while it seemed to help him nap better and eat less at daycare the first day, he was back to his normal cat naps and 4 bottles by Wednesday.  Growing boys need lots of milk!  I just used the last of the April breast milk supply for today's bottles and am still able to freeze 3-4 6oz bottles a day so we're still ahead of the game for now.

And just for documentation purposes, I weighed myself on 6/19 (4 months 18 days old) and I only have 1.5 lbs to lose to get back to pre-baby weight.  100% of that has been from breastfeeding (we walk when we can, but it's pretty sporadic).  It's not only free and good for baby, it's a life changer for mommy too!  I'm definitely shaped differently now so low rise jeans aren't really my friend anymore and the shirts that were a little too short before baby have officially been added to the donate pile, but for the most part all my pre-baby clothes are back in rotation.  I now have that "mommy pooch" and my thighs could use some serious toneage, but hopefully someday I'll find the motivation to get into the gym and take care of those things.  Probably won't be busting out the string bikinis this summer, but I'm ok with that :)

Anyways....onto week 20.  I might have to boycott blinking for the next 18 years...time is FLYING!

6-21-2013
Kiel's dad found this pic of Kiel (7 mo) & Shilo (3 yrs).  I don't have many pics of him when he was a baby so I was pretty pumped.  Can DEFINITELY see the resemblance :)  Can't wait to get a pic of Jase at 7 mo to compare!

6-22-2013
Amy & Matt had a Brummel wedding so Jase & I babysat Henry & the twins.  Kiel had plans so I was on my own.  We started off with a movie so I could get Jase fed and waste some time before dinner.  The 5 of us ventured to DQ for dinner & ice cream.  This included 3 trips to the bathroom, 1 spilt milk, and 3 happy kids :)

Went to my house to feed Jase again and give baths before meeting up with Grandma Pam for a carriage ride...Jases first.

Yep...in our jammies :)

6-23-2013
Aden & Bevin turned 4!!  Hard to believe!

Some people think about having twins and start hyperventilating.  I think of having twins and while it's not easy by any means...I think of these 2 and realize what a blessing it would be.  Two years in a row now, Aden has reached for Bevin when we start singing Happy Birthday and he gets nervous.  What an awesome bond they have...when they're 13 and can't stand each other, we'll have to show them this...

After the party, we took Jase swimming for the first time.  He didn't really have much of a reaction, but he didn't cry so I'd say it was a success!

6-24-2013
Amy pulled out Henry's stats from when he was 4 months old and it looks like Jase is going to give Henry a run for his money someday.  Jase weighed an entire lb more and was 1.5 inches longer then Henry at their 4 month well checks.  Henry is not a small kid.  I have this picture in my head of Jase in pants that are too short for his legs & a shirt that's too short for his arms and busting out of his tennis shoes lol  It also gave me hope that teeth are a little further off then we think.  Henry's baby book said he started showing signs like Jase at 4 months, but didn't cut his first tooth until he was 7 months old...one can dream!

Still a big fan of peek-a-boo :)

6-25-2013 - These just make me laugh...

6-27-2013 - It's supposed to really cool off this weekend so we took advantage of the warm evening and went swimming again.  Cutest shark ever!

A new thing this week is "screaming."  Not an upset scream, more of an "Do you hear that mom?  Do you hear that noise I can make?"  I need to get it on video.  It started when he would get really excited about something like when I would pick him up from daycare or when Kiel would come home from work, but now he will just be laying there and start doing it.  Pretty proud of himself.

The swaddle blanket seems to be on the way out the last couple of nights so tonight we took the plunge and gave bedtime a shot without it.  He's been in there since 8:30 (now 10pm) and we haven't heard much out of him.  I do not expect this to be smooth, but figured it's never going to be easy so why not start now...fingers crossed!

Trying to randomly make notes in the blog throughout the week so I don't leave things out and then an hour after I do a post think...oh dang, I forgot to mention _____.  This means posts will probably have a little more content.  Since going back to work I've found myself already slacking on the baby book...need to get better about that!

19 Weeks - Father's Day

I missed a few days this week, but I think I more then made for it on the days I took pics...

6-14-2013 - Kyra was off Friday so Cindy kept Jase for us.  I think they had a great day :)  Although, I think she would have liked him to be awake more then he was...guess he was too comfortable at her house!

6-16-2013 - Jase woke Kiel up with a few little presents for Father's Day (daddies are hard to buy for!)

HAPPY FATHER'S DAY DADDY!!!

We had a cookout with both our families...it was really nice to have everyone over at once.  It turned out to be an awesome day!

The Greskoviak's made an appearance so Jase & Lena got to do a little flirting.  She's gonna be such a good big sister!!  Such a lover already :)

6-17-2013 - Kiel noticed there was mold growing in a small closet like room in the basement so the landlord spent the morning ripping out all the wood in that room including the door...that'll do it!

6-19-2013 - Baseball season continues

6-20-2013 - Jase wore his "good" onesie to daycare today lol

Ditched the pumpkin seat and took monkey man for walk in the stroller.  I like being able to see him when he's facing me, but it's too hot to be all bundled in that thing.  I'm glad he doesn't seem to mind wearing sunglasses and hats & I really hope he keeps that up.  The one he has on below is a hand me down from Jack Voigts...sad I'm going to have to give all this back when Baby V #2 gets here!!!

Please note the color of his hair in the last pic...I think it's gotten even more red!  I actually think his eyes are changing though.  They might just be lightening up, but it seems like there's a yellowish/green ring around his pupil like the blue is slowing fading.

Work is getting busy for Kiel.  With the hot weather comes a lot of overtime work so he's been gone over night more in the last couple weeks.  He's been going to the chiropractor twice a week to keep up with the pain in his back and has some fancy inserts for his boots that have helped a TON!  He hit the 9 month marker with Ameren and is now in the 2nd step of his apprenticeship (there are 4 steps over 3 years).  As fast as the time is going, he'll be a journeyman in no time.

My work is pretty slow right now, but it seems like there's potential for things to start picking up here pretty soon.  I've only been back for 3 weeks, but a small part of me is already glad I made the decision to come back.  Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be with Jase especially since we're slow and the weather is so nice, but it's been a positive thing for both of us.  I do need to get better at balancing my time after work though.  Coming home to all the housework that still needs to be done after being at work all day when I'd rather be playing with Jase makes me crabby.  Just like everything else, I'm sure with time I will get better at it.  For now, I'd like someone else to be in charge of vacuuming (I am shedding like a sheepdog) and making dinner.  Join the club right?  :)

Just in case you were wondering...we still have the best baby ever.  He fell asleep during dinner around 8 and I haven't heard a peep out of him since.  Couldn't even wait for the swaddle blanket....

18 Weeks

6-7-2013 - We walk every chance we get.  I walk, Jase sleeps.

6-8-2013 - Happy Birthday Aunt Amy!  Sorry we didn't get to see you on your bday.  Love you anyways!
We spent the day shopping and then headed to the Henkel's to celebrate Owen's 2nd birthday.

6-9-2013 - Brought home our new KING bed...how did we ever share anything smaller?  Jase got a little bored waiting for them to get the bed loaded so he climbed into the drivers seat...won't be long.

6-10-2013 - Really starting to make an effort at sitting up, but still needs a little help every now & then lol

Just making sure I have lots of naked pictures to show his future girlfriends :)

6-11-2013 -I have this problem where I can't just take one picture...those darn fingers always in his mouth!

6-12-2013 - Kyra says naps are getting better, but he's very busy when he's at daycare so he's EXHAUSTED when he gets home.  On a regular basis, he falls asleep on the way home or during dinner and is dead to the world.  Can't even take time to burp...he's just out!  Always has a 2nd wind before bed though :)

During the time period that we got pregnant to when Jase was born, everyone was having boys so I joke a lot that everyone is having girls now because someone has to make some girlfriends for all these boys we have running around.  One of those future girlfriends isn't born yet, but her dad stopped by and let Jase see what it's like to sit in a line truck...we've decided he's going to be a lineman because we don't want to pay the obnoxious prices for college in 18 years.  Here he is bonding with his future father-in-law.  This will be a good one for the wedding slideshow :)

6-13-2013 - Kyra was off today so Grammy came over to watch the J man while mom & dad worked.  Grammy and Jase had a rough start to their relationship, but I think he's finally realized she's pretty great and now they're buddies  <3 She won some major bonus points taking him for a walk and holding him while he napped...spoiling him like a Grandma does :)

Can you tell we like blue & green??!?!

Bath night...I have a feeling that bather isn't going to last us much longer.  Such a monster!
